Suzerain Mojo Blog

Plans and happenings

I know, I know. I spend a lot of time on the Savage Suzerain blog at the moment. To be fair, though, I used to write about Mojo Rules! Suzerain exclusively for two years, while we had the old look site. That's not an excuse; I'm just saying.

By way of reassurance that we haven't forgotten all about Mojo Rules! in the euphoria of Savage Worlds, here's a little update on what we're doing right now.

Right now I have a smoking hot pdf on my computer with the final version of Wolfpaw on it. That's right, Wolfpaw is finished. And as soon as we get the final final version, we'll go live with it.

It's an 'in joke' at Talisman that there's the final version of a product, then there's always at least one more revision, so the final final (and sometimes the final final FINAL) version is the one you guys see. We tend to pass everything by just one more set of eyes, just in case. We catch a lot of things that way, which we figure makes each of our books and accessories better, but it means we've not had a product go live when it's final... perhaps ever!

Anyway, that's Wolfpaw, the final part of our Celestium Empires cycle of books. It seems amazing that we've reached the stage where you can take a character all the way from zero to Hero in the Untamed Empires (external link) realm (external link), but here we are - three Adventure Toolkits and three Adventure Zones, plus Untamed Empires Combat and we've done with the realm... for now. When Suzerain Hero goes live, we've already got the manuscript for the first Hero level toolkit, but it'll have to wait in line, because we've got plenty happening before then.

Ratten in Relic

When we started the Relic cycle of books, our release plan was slightly different to the Adventure Zone / AdvenAture Toolkit system for Untamed Empires. Instead of zones, we released Scryings to give stacks of single session encounters for dungeon play. It is a fantasy realm, after all. Still, even with Scryings, we anchor Relic around a trio of toolkits. The Ratten Wakes started our story and introduced the city of New Garris (external link). Well, Vickey is working on the finishing touches to the feats for the next of the trio... The Ratten Wakes. So that's not far off, either.

This is also the time to mention that we have some more of Steve's Scryings, ready to edit and bring to you, which will bring us up to issue 24 in total for those. Our aim is still to do 30 to go alongside the trio of adventure toolkit books for Relic, then to take the Scryings to new places.

Suzerain Hero

That's not all, though. The big release for Mojo Rules! in the coming months, the really big release, that's Suzerain Hero. Finally you get the chance to take your characters into Hero territory, do some realm hopping, visiting new times and places... or staying where they are and taking on bigger challenges. To go with Suzerain Hero is an adventure zone book called Maelstrom, giving lots of background on that place of the gods and showing how it can be a wonderful location in its own right for your games. Clyde and Richard are working on finishing Suzerain Hero's feats right now, and we've already got the full manuscript for Maelstrom, so expect to see some movement on that front soon, too. How soon? I'm honestly not sure, but we have about 30 feats left to nail down and I know the boys have been putting a lot of thought into what should make the 75 feats in the rulebook. And it's better to test it all thoroughly than to miss something, of course.

So you see, there you have it. Mojo Rules! is still a vibrant development environment in its own right. I simply didn't set up a blog for it. But that's all changed, so expect me to be spending time here and on the SW Suzerain forum in the future.

Happy Suzeraining!
