Vickey A. Beaver

     Vickey has been a stalwart member of the Savage Mojo family ever since we started work on our Suzerain fantasy realm, Relic. Initially she was a player in the original Relic play test group. Then a co-GM. Then the GM. And then, the writer of some of our wiki content over at www.suzerain.info until finally, over time, she has become part of the bedrock of what makes Suzerain tick.

     These days she's the writer on two Relic RPG books, one for Suzerain 2.mojo, The Ratten Wakes, and one we've just started the planning on, a Relic setting book for Suzerain 2.savage. Without further ado, then, here's the indespensible Vickey A. Beaver in her own words:

A bit about my background

     I've been writing in a professional capacity for about 14 years, unfortunately, most of it has been business writing and wasn't full-time. It's the kind of stuff most people don't even think about: training documentation, Web content, job descriptions, brochures, and that sort of thing. I've had some fun projects and ongoing writing that is more what most people think of, too: newsletters, a university staff newspaper column, and a reading of my original poetry and prose. In June of 2009, I decided to go freelance full-time and convert from having some writing in my job to making writing my profession.

Role-playing

     I was introduced to role-playing in 1991 or so. While I was more of an onlooker than anything else at the time my interest was sparked. Within a year or so, I started reading Advanced Dungeons and Dragons. Being a bit annoyed that women had lower stat ceilings than men, I decided I'd GM my own game and ignore that little bit of limitation in my fantasy. Since then, I've played pretty much every version of D & D at some point or another, GURPS, Burning Wheel, Warhammer Fantasy, Rippers, Pathfinder, Mage, and by sheer luck, Suzerain's Relic when Bitter Fumes was being released. I know there have been others, but those are the ones that come to mind at the moment.

     Bitter Fumes - Playtester, although our group was a bit late in completing the actual test.

     Suzerain.info - Tinkerer, having done much conversion of tenses and quotations of sections of Bitter Fumes.

     Intro to Relic Game Session - Director, having run two sessions of the intro at GenCon 2009, my first con stint as someone running a game.

Other

     I've been working on my fantasy novel, Shadowline, for quite some time and am looking forward to finally giving it the attention it deserves. I've written a number of short stories which are still awaiting paying homes, although I've gotten encouraging responses from editors. For more information about me, see www.vabeaver.com.
